Why is this happening? calls not coming ...

I have done a few searches on google. but i have found nothing that really answers my problem. everything is from the 2.0/2.1/2.2 era.

Ok, My problem:

1. When someone calls me, sometimes my phone plays ball and rings as it should do. Other times, like when my mum rang before, it doesn't ring, vibrate, display a message on the screen, or say 'Mum. four missed calls' when i go to unlock it. All it does is log an entry in my phone app, the missed calls are there but why is it not ringing?

2. This has also happened a few times, and i had forgotten about this issue until i read it on an old forum, and it appears related to prob 1. When i try to send an SMS it doesn't always work, 8 times out of 10 it does. but it is still happening, i get a little red circle with an exclamation mark inside it.

3. When i send an SMS and it works, people report getting several copies of them. this is also related to the other probs. It also sometimes has happened to me, i have received dupe copies of a message someone only sent once.

I am running the latest, 3.?? firmware, i cant remember the number but is the latest one.
