Returns, Refunds, Shipping, etc.

Here's a situation I'm questionable about. As a buyer, you purchase an item that is supposed be useful for what you need it. You receive it and with further investigation find that you will never use it. You contact the seller about returning the item. The item is actually said to be great for one thing but still, you know it will be worse than you need. The item you bought was x amount of dollars and shipping was listed as FREE. The seller informs you that you can return the item to them but they will deduct shipping from your refund amount. Is this allowed? As a seller, would you do this? The seller's ebay Faq page and listing doesn't say a thing about that. What would you do? I just need some input to know where to go from here Thank you.|||What ever amount you paid for the item (that you "receive and will never use it"), that will be the amount you will receive back. You will not receive return shipping so that maybe what the seller is talking about. You will not receive any more or less than what you originally paid. dvgvintage|||I'm almost 100% positive, they want to deduct what they paid to ship to me from the item refund...so say I paid 100, and shipping was 30 (but FREE shipping as per listing) they will only give 70$ back...||||||Simply look at the Terms of Service on the original listing. Did they say "if returned, original shipping will be deducted from amount", or something along those lines? If so, you agreed to those terms when you purchased the item. If not, you could open a case or just give them a heads up that the feedback you leave won't be good unless they can come to a better arrangement, but don't demand anything not listed in the original listing because that counts as feedback extortion. (I don't know how much $ you're out) Under eBay's buyer protection, you are covered to get ALL your money back if you file a claim. Some sellers say in their listing, for example, "minus 15% restocking fee if returned" to recoup some of the loss. I don't know if eBay has a policy for or against keeping money or charging the shipping cost but I do know it is against eBay policy to change what is stated in the original listing and terms of service, so you should start by looking there.|||ACTUALLY, when I checked the listing, the item was said to be good for what I needed until further investigation when it was wrong. regardless of research, *due* to sellers slight incorrect information, I find research less of a means of a cause to warrant an extra amount of money for them.|||Item number?|||||||||The item is stated as being great for precision when in fact, on most rinks, they would be alllll over the place for most skaters -_-|||As a seller myself, I understand where the seller is coming from. Buyer's remorse is never a fun return and does mean loss to the seller. However, it is against eBay policy to change the TOS after the listing ended, so you do have a right to file a claim. Try messaging the seller first again, this time include this link: Link ^particularily the part under "terms and conditions" and "what not to do". Maybe they will reason with you.||||||I looked up the auction and you could easily win you case because it doesn't state anywhere that there will be a fee or deduction (I know we already figured that out, but I did finally look . This would be a non-performing seller claim. You did say a couple posts above that the listing states they will do something/are good for something, but they are not? This would be a SNAD claim. First and foremost, write them. Be friendly (even though you don't want to), explain that you are happy to return the item and pay return shipping with tracking (Paypal would/will make you if you file a claim), but that it is against eBay policy to change the TOS (include link) and that they better reach a better agreement with you or you will file a claim.|||Dear Seller, I appreciate you getting back to me, but unfortunately I do not agree with you not returning my full purchase amount. I am returning this item due to the fact that your description does not match the poor quality of this product. If I were to file a significantly not as described claim, I would be issued my full purchase amount. I would love to avoid this hassle for both of us seeing that I received a product that does not meet the standards of your listing. In addition to being reimbursed the full purchase price, I would also appreciate you paying my return ship. I do not feel I should be out a dime due to something that is clearly not my fault. A response would be appreciated with in two days. If I am satisfied with the result I will ship these back to you immediately with delivery confirmation as protection for myself to ensure my full refund. I look forward to hearing back from you Sincerely, Your Buyer|||
